I know the 2020 season doesn’t count for anything except for division championships, but Penix was really good for that one year and I watched more Indiana football that year than anyone should in a lifetime. He is better than Morris, zero doubt - I know so is a dog turd and I’m really going out on a limb here, but at the moment that’s is the standard to compare.
Fun fact: Willie Taggart almost brought him to Oregon.
Also, imagine having your last name be Penix and deciding that Michael is a great name for your kid. -
In DeBoers offense (which is what matters here) he had a 68.8 completion percentage and averaged 8.7 yards per attempt. I’m the big 10. Brown never got close to that efficiency. Weird Throwing motion or not he is much better than Brown at throwing the rock.dtd said:
lulz. I was being hyperbolic. They're the same dude. Saying Penix is "way better" is idiotic. Look at the stats, the horrific throwing motion, etc. Comp %, TD %, INT%, YPA, QBR, TD/INT. They're the same dude throwing the ball, and one of them has knees.OreDawg said:
When healthy Penix is way better than Anthony brown. They’re also totally different quarterbacks.dtd said:Yikes, this guy makes Anthony Brown look like Cam Newton. The worst? thing Cristobal did was bringing Brown in instead of just letting it rip with the young guys.
But congrats on getting a guy who as a 4th year junior completed 53% of his passes for 5.8 ypa with 4 TDs and 7 INTs before blowing out his knee. Offseason champs!
Duck fans just think all Black QBs lol.

He’s not. We need great. That isn’t Sam Huard.Houhusky said:
If Huard cant beat out Morris leaving, Heaner not graduating, and a Broken Penis from Indiana than he isn't the guy anyways.MontlakeDon said:Huard gone

dude is legit if his knees work. I don’t think they do

penix is the only blackman on washington

Penix jokes > Haener hot mom jokes. Even if he sucks, this is a good turn of event.

i’m not even a big penix guy but holy shut the fuck up quoock. Brown couldn’t make any of these throws hthdtd said:Yikes, this guy makes Anthony Brown look like Cam Newton. The worst? thing Cristobal did was bringing Brown in instead of just letting it rip with the young guys.

I can’t get past the fact that he was throwing to a guy named Whop.
-
I’ve only watched him once or twice, but these are good throws. His protection sucks too. I think we actually protect better than Indiana. Give this guy time and he does have an arm.backthepack said:

Indiana’s has had like a bottom 10 pass pro OL for the past 3-4 years. They gave up 32 pressures in the Ohio State game last year.RoadDawg55 said:

It’s a tight end coach with OC experience. It’s solid. It’s not like we hired their OL coach.Neighbor2972 said:

I like Mike Penix, or at least I did before he decided that purple was his color. I was surprised when I looked at his stats and discovered he was actually Anthony Brown. He has a much better arm than Brown, but this is eerie in how similar their career numbers are. It’s almost like the same player, knee injuries and all. Prepare for six games of Bryce Young and six games of Braxton Buttmeister from the same guy.backthepack said:

I watched Indiana and Penix play Ohio State and I watched Brown and Oregon in Brown's best game - Ohio State
Penix is 100 times better but Brown stays healthy and can run which is his best thing going for him -
Penix Pals and DeBoner Donors.... We are already better than last season
-
This is a genius move by DeBoner. He's done his homework and understands the UW culture and fanbase. Already setting himself up to play to the "wait till next year" crowd, and he knows they will eat it up. Bring in a QB that can't stay healthy and give yourself an excuse for a shitty season when he inevitably goes down in week 3.

No. We don’t have a good QB on the roster. A good one beats out Morris and doesn’t throw 4 picks against the Cuog.Seven_Eleven said:This is a genius move by DeBoner. They will be better if they stay under DeBoer, but neither is the guy.
The portal gives us a chance. Maybe Penix is good. If he is, the available QB’s the next year will want to play at UW.
