If the Chip hiring is confirmed then it’s been a fun ride. After 8-9 years and a while at the PIT, I just don’t care anymore. My football passion is gone and dead, but it was a good run. You fuckers will be missed.
Bandwagon quook
What's been fun? Dominating Washington and yet not reaching their best team?
I like Chip. He’s a prick fuck. However, I saw GNR in concert in 2019. Wasn’t the same as 1990. Chip going back to Oregon is like GNR today. Slash and Duff are good but Axel sucks and it ain’t the same.
God damn what the fuck don't Oregon fans understand. Eugene has a absolutely no fucking appeal. It's a stepping stone job, anyway you slice it. Unless you are from that shit hole, don't give a fuck about quality of life no money is worth it long term.

Well, more to the point, once you have enough money to live where ever the fuck you want, Eugene ain't gonna be it.

The counter to that argument is that @creepycoug 's Canes were also a stepping stone job while winning 5 national titles

Oregon only needs 5 more
Yeah, I got over 'stepping stone' when I realized Jimmy Johnson was taking the U to another level after the first title. The third guy came in an won two titles, albeit with somebody else's team, and the fourth guy built something so powerful that a complete nobody was able to take them to the fifth.
Who cares? Is anybody here longing for some lazy dipshit to come in and say, "this is all I want for the rest of my life"? Those are the people who like to get comfortable and ride their boats to work while drinking coffee.
We? didn't get the best Chris Peterson. That guy was left behind in Boise. Best CP was hungry and had a chip on his shoulder and liked slaying dragons. Beat Oklahoma in the Fiesta with mid-major talent. And it wasn't UW he was in love with. He wanted to be and retire in the PNW and if you want that then you want to be in Seattle and UW happens to be here and has some advantages BS will never have. If the fanbase would have been comfortable with consistent 9 and 10 win seasons with an occasional NYs day bowl (but no promises about winning though!), and was understanding and forgiving of periodic 8 or 7 win seasons, he'd have probably coached here into his 80s. But playing Ohio State and Bama and Penn State is fun as long as people don't get bent out of shape if you lose.

You're in the "unreasonable bias against Oregon" category of doog. You're not alone here, but that you are.
Appealing? Are you fucking kidding? Why not? Like, actually, why not? The commitment, the facilities, the $$ and the connection to the founder of Nike are very real reasons to make that job attractive. No natty, but not exactly an empty trophy case either.
As to Eugene itself, I don't get it. I've been there. You talk about it like it's Beirut. Be realistic here and think about Stillwater and Norman Oklahoma, and Happy Valley PA and Columbus Ohio and College Station or fucking Starksville. I'd take Eugene over Tallahassee any day, and that's the state capitol. And that's not the point anyway.
The point is, which do you prefer? A hungry coach who knows with Oregon's resources that he can go there and finish what Chip Kelley didn't and then use that to go onto to whatever? Or would you prefer a coach who LOVES Washington and rides a boat to Montlake every day and just soaks up all the doog awesomeness? The coach you want is the one who's asking, "Am I going somewhere committed to football and is there enough money and other resources with which to make it happen?"
I know for a fact that CP would have coached at Oregon if the timing had worked out. No question about it.

This is such a weird talking point in a sport where the highest paid coaches reside in places like Norman, college station, Baton Rouge, east lansing, and Tuscaloosa

If they have enough money, they are going to do one of two things: retire, and then of course they're not picking Eugene (most won't pick Seattle either, but that's another topic) or keep coaching. If they keep coaching, it means they want to win and coach a recognized program. That means they'll live pretty much wherever to do that.

To further the poont. Those places have history and tradition as well as very deep booster pockets to offset being a shitty location. Eugene is close but no cigar in that category.
IMO you? guysm need a hungry upstart looking for a place with potential, which I'm not such a doog to deny Oregon has. Good name brand/easy recruiting, 3/4th P5 conference in a currently weak division, there are plenty of good things. Location ain't one. The trouble being, and as the discussion follows, how do you keep someone once they get some success and have other options that have more things.
If you care enough to have passion that dies that sounds like you care.
This may be moot if they hire UGA’s DC and the SEC’s new top bagman instead of double dip Chip. Sure, a Cristobal or exciting hire is great since I love recruiting because I’m a simpleton who believe in
But ask yourself this - if you have a shitty 10-2 team playing sexy grandpa’s Kyle Whittingham’s band of scrappy two stars and transfers for the conference title who would you rather have planning for, motivating, and coaching in that game? Chubby Chip, booger eater, or steroid tits?
Save the ledge for when Lanning gets enough wins to stepping stone his way back to his alma mater, William Jewel. Whatever the fuck that is.

Yep. Some weird fatso upstart from New Hampshire showed up and came within an eyelash of taking them to the promised land, and left the nosepicker a team with which to dismantle the defending national champions in the Rose Bowl. It can be done anywhere, and IMHO the difference between the easiest places to do and the more challenging places at which to do is not that great.

Best narrative of UW's version of Peterson ever made, I would have chinned you 10 times if Stalin allows it. Still I don't understand the hatred a lot of guys here had towards him, he developed/acquired talents, won a couple of PAC-12 titles, made playoff/NY6 a few time and losing them and overall made UW relevant again. Sure he sucked ass in big games, but at least he knew he burned out and decided to step down instead of dragging on, riding his boat and drinking coffee while collecting multi-millions from UW.

HC don't care. Wife care. If she's happy, HC happy. You're over the top hatred of Eugene sounds like some sort of PTSD. Autzen porking lot?
