I like this hire...seems like the right guy in the right place to keep Notre Dame's football tradition going strong moving forward. The Notre Dame players seemingly support this decision from their collective reaction. We will see what the committed 2022 recruits think and if any players transfer in or out in the near future but right now it seems like all positive energy reations coming from this decision both locally and nationally.
Notre Dame has named defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman as its next head football coach, the school announced Friday morning.
Freeman, 35, will be introduced on Monday during a 2 p.m. ET news conference and will coach the Irish in their upcoming bowl game.
Freeman was in his first season in charge of Notre Dame's defense. He replaces Brian Kelly, who left Notre Dame to become LSU's head coach earlier this week.
"It is an honor to be named the head coach of Notre Dame Football," Freeman said in a statement. "I am eternally grateful to both Father [John] Jenkins and [athletic director] Jack Swarbrick for giving me the opportunity to lead the exceptional men who make this program what it is. Notre Dame is a very special place and I look forward to pursuing a national championship with the most outstanding student-athletes, coaches and staff in college football."

I literally had a dream that Campbell got hired at Notre Dame and that I was talking to a friend about it. Then I walked around for a couple days thinking Campbell was the Irish head coach, until I found out differently yesterday. That was weird.
Every situation is different...time will tell how it works out for Notre Dame. Can't paint all DCs with a broad brush just because of Jimmy Lake's tenure at the UW. I am pretty sure that Freeman won't be hiring the secretarial assistant to the assistant RB coach to be his OC.
