Why I believe SC did reach out to at least Lincoln's Agent to gauge potential interest if you take it at face value from the time the OU/Okie State game was over to when it was leaked out he was leaving on Sunday Morning was about 14 hours.
That makes you think SC basically said to Lincoln, what will it take for you to leave, here's a blank piece of paper.
