Man that's some defeatist shit there....Committing to a top tier coach would surely signal to said coach that the university is at least willing to win.
The point some of us are trying to make is yes, UW should be an elite coaching job in CFB, but given the leadership up the chain from the HC and the environment at the school, no "big name" coach is going to put up with with this bullshit unless you seriously back the Brinks truck up.
I agree, we should commit to a top tier coach. But, if you were a top tier coach looking at Florida/Miami/LSU/PennState/USC, would you come up here with Cohen as your boss and that ding dong on upper campus?
If UW is really committed to winning, they'd show Cohen the door before making this hire.
Wilcox for DC and Kellen for OC (make him say no Jen)
Who wouldn’t want to come in with the offensive talent Washington has and the shit performance in 21. Instant street Cred.
At this point Kellen would probably say no to a HC offer. The idea of either him or Wilcox coming here as a coordinator is laughable.
The only HC gig Moore will take is in the NFL with my Dallas Cowboys (assuming Jerry doesn't wait too long).
He's going to be on the NFL shortlist for head coaches, if he's not already. The NFL's current hard-on for the young offensive wunderkids all but ensures that Moore now has a lifetime membership to the league's closed loop of recycled head coaches, success optional. That kind of money and job security is hard to pass up.
We had a small window in early 2020 where Kellen Moore was a possibility. That window is now shut.

No more with the BSU tree. No more, please.
Moore's a different thing. He never coached with Pete or any of the Boise guys. He's not Boise tree as far as coaching goes.

Sure.gif. Don't you try to bully me. Even @GrandpaSankey can see Kellen Moore bleeds blue and orange.
Just wrote 35 emails to UW AD under different DAWG emails supporting the hiring of a classy coach, who did the best he could with his hands tied at Cal. Already has UW ties and won’t let athletics get in the way of the student athletes achieving their goals of representing the University of Washington after their football careers come to a close in the REAL world and not just at internships at NIKE.
Good luck rest of the way.
sounds like MikeSeaver1-35@gmail.com are now all accounted for.

Doubt it. @MikeSeaver is the kind of idiot who still goes through life with a hotmail account.
I might be okay with this if he brings Gerald Alexander back to be his DC and pulls Jeff Grimes to be his OC.
The best sign somebody is a terrible hire is when someone says they're okay with it "if they bring specific assistants x and y."
In a good program assistants will come and go. You want a coach that you trust even if specific assistants move on (or don't come at all).
Wilcox ain't the guy.
I'm not bullish on the "Wilcox sucks" line of thinking. I think he could still be a good coach, hard to say given that he's coaching at a school that insists on handicapping him in every hilarious way possible.
But at this juncture he's a small-time hire. You don't hire someone with a losing record regardless of circumstance. Save that shit for the cuogs of the world who have no choice but to take a flier on a guy who has no better prospects.

Bruce Snyder era (1987 - 1991) Bruce Snyder, an assistant coach of the Los Angeles Rams, arrived as head coach at Berkeley in 1987. In 1990 Cal won seven games, Finishing Pac-10 in 4th place, which was its highest since 1977. California played in the Copper Bowl where it beat Wyoming 17–15.[67] This was the first bowl win since the 1938 Rose Bowl.[67]
The 1991 team went 10–2, reaching the 2nd place in the Pac-12. Part of Snyder's success was due to him being able to recruit a number of outstanding players, such as Russell White, Mike Pawlawski, Sean Dawkins, Troy Auzenne, David Ortega, away from football powers such as USC and UCLA.[68] One of the unfortunate highlights of that season was against future national co-champion the undefeated Washington Huskies. The game was at home, where California was able to stand up to Huskies unlike any other team that season. The team stopped Washington from scoring within the Cal red zone on multiple occasions, but lost the game on an incomplete pass with 5 seconds left in the game. Cal lost that game 17 to 24.[69] The teams other unfortunate loss was to Stanford - 21–38. The Bears finished the season ranked No. 8, defeating No. 11 Clemson Tigers in the Florida Citrus Bowl - 37–13.[68]
Keith Gilbertson era (1992-1995) Because of negotiation problems with Cal's new athletic director, Snyder left Cal for the Arizona State Sun Devils right after the Citrus Bowl.[68] Upon leaving Snyder's salary increased from $250,000 a year at Cal to $600,000 at Arizona State.[70] The Bears were able to replace Snyder by hiring away the Washington Huskies offensive coordinator Keith Gilbertson.[71] During his four years Cal had only one winning season. In 1993 it went 4–4 in the Pac-10 and placed 5th in the conference. Cal was invited to the Alamo Bowl where they defeated the 8th place Big Ten team, the Iowa Hawkeyes 37 to 3.[72] 1994 was the first year of the future Cal and NFL legend Tony Gonzales, who played both as a tight end and forward for the Golden Bears basketball team.
