Mariners opening day

I remember when I cared about the Mariners. Now I'm at the point where I didn't even realize it was opening day until today. That is how shitty they've been this past decade.

Husky Football has been a fucking dreckfest this past decade and it's still 100 times better than what the Mariners have been.

LOL, me too... I didn't realize it was Opening Day today until I walked to the coffee shop this morning and saw the newspaper headline.

I remember from 1996-2004 I couldn't wait until opening day. I think being on the road again, Seahawks winning a SB and Husky football finally having something to be excited about has left me not caring about the M's like I once did.

I was a diehard from when I was little kid up until 2003. When Howard Lincoln said that we weren't like Boston and New York, that it's not just about winning championships but having a family atmosphere at the ballpark, it all became clear to me why Lou Piniella was so mad at Howard for the lack of support. When all we needed was some bullpen help and a left fielder, and we could have won it all. WE HAD 7 ALL-STARS in 1997!

And so when Howard Lincoln said that, I thought "Why am I spending energy rooting for a team that is not doing everything it can to win games?" And I have not watched or listened to a Mariner game since 2003. And to repeat, I was a diehard fan who memorized all the stats and followed each game closely from 1977-2003.

I'm guessing the the people jammed in there for the Seahawks Super Bowl parade will be the largest capacity crowd they get for a month.
