Washington State at Oregon expert predictions,First place in Pac-12 North up for grabs
By The Athletic Staff
Who needs academic prowess when you have Travis Dye? It practically rained sideways in Seattle before Oregon’s 24-16 win over Washington, paving the way for Dye to receive a 28-carry workload that he turned into 211 yards and a touchdown. The Ducks ran the ball 56 times compared to 20 passing attempts while the defense held Washington to 166 total yards. Still, Oregon did have to briefly fight its way out a first-half deficit against an anemic offense, so no style points here. The Ducks can all but lock up the Pac-12 North next week with a win over Washington State.
Oregon opened as a two-touchdown favorite. These teams will play at 10:30 p.m. ET Saturday on ESPN.
The Cougars were off last week, which may not have been the best thing for their momentum. Last time we saw WSU play, it forced five turnovers and beat Arizona State 34-21 in a game that was not nearly as close as the score might indicate. Jake Dickert got the Cougars ready on a quick turnaround after Nick Rolovich’s termination and it’s clear this team is willing to play for its interim head coach. However, Washington State has dropped back-to-back games against Oregon and picking against the Ducks at home doesn’t seem like a very good idea.
