    Bruener looked pretty decent but it had alot to do with the interior DL not being completely incompetent and Hiles playing a much more aggressive safety in the box and actually letting the outside CBs (Gordon, Powell, McDuffie) play tight man coverage.

    The umbrella/prevent/shell/2-deep/ben/pussy defense UW has played for years is dependent on smaller faster ILBs covering massive area.

    If Bruener is going to be successful the defensive philosophy will have to change away from what UW has been running for the past 5 years.

    They actually brought multiple disguised blitzes off the edge. I wasn't sure what team I was watching.
