Shouldn’t Eason still be at UW? Given last year was a free year, he should be running this offense. He’s played two seasons of college football. Someone gave his ass some really bad advise…

I'm not sure how two additional years of not being able to read a defense or understand a playbook would've helped him. He's lucky he got his fourth round money and maybe has the chance to latch on as a career backup.

UW hasn't had a good QB coach in ages, why would he be any better now than he was two years ago had he stayed here?

It takes a special kind of delirious to look at this John Donovan offense for the last two years and say in retrospect that Eason should've STAYED.
Eason is pulling more tail than Pup in his VW bus and holding a clipboard to get paid
Where did he go wrong?
His career trajectory appears to be practice squad, followed by out of the league entirely within 1-2 years.
That big arm is worth more that two years
Damon lasted almost a decade as a back up
12 years in the league.
15-12 record as a starter.
Natty ring and 2 SB rings.
Damon had a pretty damn solid career, especially for an undrafted QB.
In 92 UW was playing Oregon State which would be the only win of the last 4 games after Billygate. They had a huge lead and Damon got to play and threw a long TD to Theron "Thrill" Hill and in the stands we were like - ok we're good. We'll be back.
lol
Brock was even higher rated and in a vacuum probably more talented but Damon was tougher

I remember that game well.
Damon and Hill and my guy Jason Shelley bode great things for the future.
Little did we know.
Brock definitely had better arm talent but Damon was a fighter. Hopefully Sam has some of that fight in him. He definitely has more talent than his pops did.

During the post-game presser, Damon Huard was sitting in Don James' seat. James chased him off and said something like, "You make one good play and suddenly you think you're a star."
Apologies if it’s been discussed before but can a more old timer explain to me how and why Damon Huard went undrafted? Especially at a time when QB play was a lot more simple and pointed towards immobile guys.

It's a good question, his 95 stats were actually pretty good, especially for that era.
Guessing he just didn't wow anybody at the combine.

Damon looked pretty polished when he came in. What he turned out to be, though, was more of a sloppy, scrappy QB who looked ugly but could be pretty effective. He didn't throw pretty balls like Brock but managed to get them there. He was slow as fuck but a pretty effective scrambler.
I saw why he didn't get drafted. He made a career though because guys like him make excellent backup QBs.

Myriad of reasons why it was a long foul ball but Eason was part of it
