    Pete didn't win a big bowl game at UW. Under the Rick-era bowl arrangements, the 2016 team would've played in the Rose Bowl against Penn State and probably gotten plungered like they did in the 2017 Fiesta Bowl against Penn State. Pete teams liked to fall behind early in every big game.
    Neu got 7-4 Purdue instead....

    Bammer is the GOAT rather easily. The two most successful coaches of all time both coached at Bammer.
    Yeah but a bunch of those natties are pretty sketchy. All I'm saying is they are no different overall compared to the other 4 or 5 elite programs. They will trend down when Saban leaves like all dynasties do

    He also established LSU in between those two stints winning a title. LSU sucked prior to him coaching there. If you don’t think saban would create a top 10 program anywhere you don’t think coaching is important.

    What was his yards per pass attempt? Total TDs? Again, Rick had a bad year, with no opportunity to improve after. And his bad year was as good as any year Lambo, Sark or Lake has (or will) have. (Yes, Lambo won 9 games one year with the one of the best players in UW history, and Rick pushed in his shit in the Bowl Game.) Petersen was a good coach who quit. Neu was a good coach who was fired. And Neu never blew a game against Arizona by having no idea how to run out the clock with a lead. The trending down narrative is incomplete, and in reality, not technically gifted.

    I dont know why I'm engaging in this retarded debate again. RN getting fired was absolute bullshit and was the single decision that led to the 2004-2013 debacle.

    But...grandpa Sankey could see that it's a stretch to call him a "good" coach. He was solid on the sidelines but his roster construction, recruiting, and player development were all piss poor. The trending down narrative was not a narrative at all. It was plain for all to see. The team was soft as fuck, ran a disgusting, boring offense, and had little talent incoming especially on the lines. RN was not going to be better than Sarkisian long term.

    Sure. In the make-believe world in which six-ring Nick magically reappears in East Lansing, he’d probably build a build a monster there. But living legends don’t take the MSU job. The baked-in institutional advantages at Bama are enormous. And sure, Saban deserves great credit for elevating them above the other blue bloods. But Bama has always been a blue blood.
