Calm down turbo. It’s one thing to have talent. It’s quite another to have a Brand new coaching staff mesh together within the first three or four years.
-
Yeah. You’re right. He needs 5- 6 years really.doogie said:Calm down turbo. It’s one thing to have talent. It’s quite another to have a Brand new coaching staff mesh together within the first three or four years.

It takes at least that to establish relationships and culture when you have a whole new staff show up to start from scratch like this.YellowSnow said:

Bill connelly the s&p+ guy was on the solid verbal saying the stats say the most significant increase for a coach is from year 1 to 2. Diminishing improvements after that.
It's not fair to say his first year was EXACTLY normal but he has been in charge for the full year and got to play games and got to run plenty of practices. Not to mention how little changed for him not having to come from another program. Win this year with a relatively easy schedule or it doesn't look good going forward -
Agree. Jimmy did not inherit a rebuild in any sense. The pieces are there across the roster including a QB who doesn't appear to be a total shit show.Canadawg said:Bill connelly the s&p+ guy was on the solid verbal saying the stats say the most significant increase for a coach is from year 1 to 2. I think it will be rather clear after year 1.5 if Lake has the makings of good coach or if he's fated to mediocrity or worse. -
Alabama never had to face a ranked tight end. Get the trophy case ready.

Jimmy got everything an incoming coach could ask for. Three straight, strong recruiting classes, a very well put together roster, continuity to the extreme...all of the excuses we usually grant to new coaches are non issues.YellowSnow said:

Double digit wins should be a given, a north title should come down to a single game at Autzen, a conference championship is realistic, and an NY6 bowl or even playoff aren't out of reach given the schedule and roster. If he fucks this up there's no reason to wait on it. Scorch the earth and start over. -
The single game is at Husky Stadium, not Autzen in 2021.
The stars are aligned . . . -
