Cook it. This is the narrative for 2021.
A more accurate statement would have been something like “the most eligibility remaining among the 85 man roster” but that doesn’t leave much room in a tweet. It’s also spin on there being so few upperclassmen that hadn’t been processed. But hey, the marketing department is doing their job and the media prefers to fluff the brand name instead of the generic.
As for retuning production -
Something happened that caused Oregon to lose a lot of returning production in the formula between Connelly’s ratings in February and now.
The Pac-12’s most efficient QB and top dual threat decided to take his talents and returning production to Lubbock.
The potential number one pick in the draft figured that Texas Tech better fits his skillset of looking like he’s trying to handle a particularly slippery turd.
Also gone prematurely is Isaac Slade-Matautia. I would have preferred to keep him, but his kids are going to be starting college soon and I can’t fault him for wanting to get a foot in the door at a fine school like SMU. It’s a cocaine school instead of a meth school - and every parent would do the same. Plus, Jim Leavitt will be able to babysit.
They’ll have to try to replace him with some unheralded LB, Jason Flower or something like that. I read that he looked like Godzilla destroying Tokyo in the spring game, but I didn’t see it live. The governor forbade attendance as punishment after too many plastic straws were used that week. I would have watched it on the Pac-12 Network but I now only get the top 3,600 channels.
Deommodore Lenoir will actually be missed. He was a senior, got drafted and finally promoted to Dumbledore. The other seniors had all opted out, with the exception of Jordon Scott and Austin Faoliu, who only opted out on a play by play basis. Nick Pickett opted out of not hitting receivers in the head - the concussion protocol guy for the Cuog will miss his production.
To answer your other que(e)ry, If Cristobal doesn’t get the conference championship three-peat then the following excuses will be acceptable:
* Had the youngest roster in 2020.
* Needs more tim to get his guys in there.
* Kayvon was taking it easy because they developed him so well that he was already guaranteed NFL monies, this straight year with a top-7 pick.
* Younger players too talented, caused team chemistry issues.
* Unfavorable schedule and for every team Oregon is their soup bowl game so they try harder, playbook was stolen, players too fat or not fat enough, etc.
If 2021 isn’t the year and 2022 isn’t the year, then 2023 will be special. If not special by 2024 then hire this guy.
