I'm buying it in this instance for two reasons.

1. COVID year. We? all said there would be kids who slipped through the cracks that normally wouldn't due to COVID. Banks appears to be one of them.

2. Biggins' statements on him. It's absolute in Biggins and 247's best interests to act like UW ended up with an extra spot and decided to take a flyer on a some no name nobody wanted. It's not in their best interests to say we missed on this kid and he's really good and UW got a steal. The fact Biggins is as excited about this kid as he is a pretty good indicator he's probably legit.

I hate our DB coaches but I think they lucked into one here.

Listen guys. Played in this league, trust me. Coaches get sent 30,000 tapes of shit D3 players (like me) from these small schools off the beaten path. The general idea in California recruiting is if you play at a big school or in a big league on a bad team and do well you’ll get buzz. Go to camps and all that shit. And buzz comes your way.

If you play at one of these small schools or bumfuckville places, unless you’re putting up legit hardcore results as a true freshman or sophomore you ain’t getting noticed no matter how good you are. Coaches won’t even watch the film of a nobody who didn’t play his junior year at a bumfuck school.

This kid literally fits the profile of the late bloomer who goes to Boise or Colorado state or some shit and does really well and we wonder why he didn’t want to come here to a big time school. Could be good, probably won’t. Most aren’t. But this offer doesn’t bother me at all, take him over the big name school guy who got beaten out, looking at you James Smith.

Someone shared a stat that only 20 percent of students in his district could read at grade level. I’m going to assume his grades were shit, he didn’t play as a junior, Covid, he plays at a shitty program… All of that will drop you off the radar.
