"A pint of your best bitter for me and my three friends". "That will be $92 please". Geezus. Nothing quite like cheap green renewable energy is there? Seems like there should be some political cost for being this phucking stupid, but then look at the US.
GOODER AND HARDER, OLD BLIGHTY: UK pubs must hike pint prices to £20 each or face closure this winter, expert warns. “Tom Stainer, the chief executive of real campaign group CAMRA, says the increase in energy prices will cause running costs at pubs to increase by 500-600%, putting an enormous amount of establishments at risk of closure.”

lol at that price point for a pint of beer in a pub.
Inflation is transitory and gas prices only affect the rich, I’m told.
Those rich pub owners and patrons had it coming iyam

Sounds like the beer will be colder and cheaper at home.
Oregonian thinks housing 1,600 people is a great success for the Metro area income and gross receipts tax passed back in May of 2020. Expected yearly revenue is only $210 million so this appears to be a roaring success as we end homelessness in Portland.
A lot, but a 131,000 a year is clearly worth it as the Portland homeless problem is almost gone. Certainly that wouldn't attract more homeless to Portland. These type of programs have also cleaned up San Francisco and LA.
Let’s allocate more tax dollars. Oregon has done such a great job with public schools and PERS that this will surely be a huge success.
“SPEND MORE OF OTHER PEOPLES MONEY!”
Half the reason these initiatives always go tits up is because none of the people making the decisions have any real skin in the game. The private sector is by and large a performance and merit-based system, whereas the public sector starts with a popularity contest where success metrics rarely move the needle on one’s job security.
I mean Kate Brown is STILL the Governor of Oregon and Ted Wheeler is STILL the mayor of Portland.

Historically, there’s a thing called the London Mob. It rears its head periodically and the ruling class is terrified of if.
20 pound pints might be a breaking point.
Fuck around and find out, elites.

That’s fucking astonishing to someone like me.
