If you want to red flag someone, you need skin in the game for filing a false claim. Of course, the dems live on fraud and perjury and they have no interest in whether the red flag claim is true or not or who pays to get their guns back.
One thing that Matthew McConnauhey mentioned in that overly-praised speech at the White House about red flag laws -- which the media has not seen fit to repeat -- was that we needed prosecution for "abuse of red flag laws," in order to keep the red flag law credible and not just a tool of harassment and abuse.
He mentioned red flag laws and prosecutions for abuse of red flag laws as a package deal. You can't have one without the other.
No one seems to want to have any interest in charging those who perjure themselves to deprive others of their civil rights, though.

I read a long thread last night on one particular red flag horror story.
Ex-wife lies to Judge that her black eye was caused by her ex. He has guns too and is threatening.
Judge gives order to Sheriffs Dept. to confiscate guns. Ex has no idea why they’re at his door. He wasn’t even in town when she claims he hit her.
Guy has to hire attorney. Goes before Judge with proof. Ex-wife doesn’t appear and charges dismissed. Give me my guns. Naw, you have to wait 3 weeks. Then he has two job offers rescinded because it shows on background.
Now he’s really in the shit. Chases after the PD to get guns. When he finally does his Mossberg shotgun is “missing”.
It was all a lie. Two month ordeal and attorney fees that would have run $10k if his old boss didn’t Rep him at a discount. DA refused to file any charges against the crazy ex-wife. Said they don’t do it in these cases.
You think this isn’t gonna be a huge problem? He got one of the job offers back but he had to go the extra mile to prove his innocence.

As I pointed out yesterday, Russia has cut the supply of natural gas to Germany by about 60% in just a few days. The official reason for this is a technical problem exacerbated by sanctions. Specifically, a turbine used to compress natural gas into a pipeline to Germany was scheduled for repair. The turbine could only be repaired at a special facility located in Canada. But a problem arose because Canada has sanctions in place against the Russia’s state-owned gas company Gazprom. So once the turbine arrived in Canada there was no way to return it Russia.
The claims about the turbine and the sanctions are true but Germany’s Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck clearly didn’t buy the whole story. He said the repairs on the pipeline weren’t scheduled to take place until this fall. “So I also have the impression that what happened yesterday is a political decision, and not a decision that is technically justifiable,” he said.
The demand for gas is relatively low in Germany right now because it’s mostly used for heating in the winter and, this week, there happens to be a heat wave moving in. The main concern was refilling it’s reserve capacity prior to winter when millions of homes will depend on it. Today, Habeck called on Germans to conserve gas to help ensure they have enough for winter.
