Biden's New "Regressive" Methane Tax Will Raise Average American's Gas Bill By 17%

At a time when the Biden administration is panicking in an attempt to keep energy prices down, the House has slapped a "fee" on methane that is being called a "stealth tax" on natural gas and everyone who uses it.
The House bill results in an "escalating tax on methane emissions by oil and gas producers," a new op-ed in the Wall Street Journal points out. The tax will hit $1,500 per ton by 2025 and the fee is supposed to be a contribution to recent promises made in Glasgow to curb methane emissions.
The cost of the fee will obviously get passed along to the consumer, which will then result in even higher energy prices than consumers are already struggling with. 180 million Americans use natural gas to hear their homes, the report says.
In the meantime, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) has come out and stated that half of U.S. households that heat with natural gas will pay 30% more than winter than they did last year. This methane tax could add another 17% to an average bill, the WSJ editorial board writes.
The WSJ op-ed board calls it a "regressive tax" and says that "Department of Energy notes the average energy burden for low-income families is three times higher than for more affluent households".
The methane tax "exposes the contradiction at the heart of Democratic climate policy" and clearly violates President Biden's promise not to raise taxes on those making less than $400,000 per year, the op-ed argues. -
Meanwhile, the US greens want the US freezing in the dark like North Korea. The chicoms have a different plan. The chart just tracks chicom coal production (under their exacting environmental mining protections, of course) then tack on the massive amount of coal they are importing. Why did we let them get the Olympics? Let's see, 2022 Winter Olympics were awarded to the chicoms in 2015.
PS If the US greens were serious about reducing US CO2 production we would be building nukes and exporting LNG to Asia and Europe. But leftards are never intellectually serious.

While newly-listed shares of Buzzfeed continue their plunge, at least one tycoon is still proving that media can pay.
That's because 90 year old Rupert Murdoch and his wife just purchased a sprawling $200 million cattle ranch, with attached mansion, that was formerly owned by the Koch family.
The property is 340,000 acres, according to Bloomberg, and is known as "Beaverhead". -

Director Steven Spielberg’s woke West Side Story remake is a box office catastrophe expected to open in the $10 million range.
How awful is that? Well, do you remember that previous woke catastrophe, In the Heights? It opened to $11.5 million.
West Side Story is projected to bomb harder than In the Heights, lol.
Even so, the In the Heights’ production budget was only $55 million.
West Side Story cost $100 million to produce and probably as much to promote.
Now we get to my favorite part, that part where all the Hollywood media suck-ups fire off their lame excuses to appease their Studio Masters.

That’s what you all said about No Time to Die, which opened to a disappointing $55 million. It seems to me that if the older-skewing No Time to Die could open to $55 million, West Side Story could do the same...
Riddle me this, you brownnosing hacks… Weren’t all these factors apparent BEFORE you predicted a box office haul of $12-$17 million? And let’s not kid ourselves. That estimate was deliberately low in the hopes of fabricating EXCEEDS or MEETS EXPECTATIONS headlines for anything under $20 million, which is still a catastrophe for a $100 million studio movie.
Oh, and because CNN doesn’t already have enough credibility problems, that fake news outlet told its gullible readers,” ‘West Side Story’ could have a big opening at box office thanks to Spielberg and Oscar buzz.” -
