Yamamoto said “I would never invade America, there is a gun behind every blade of grass.” People forget that.
You're goddamned right.
Just finished Season I of 1883 and now have to wait a year for Season II. I saw that they green lighted a new spinoff "1932" about the Duttons and the Great Depression in Montana on the Yellowstone.
They must have had hundreds of gunshots during season I and no one died. Alec Baldwin is still the clubhouse leader.
The Throbbers' grandfather lost his ranch during the Great Depression. Ended up as an alcoholic grave digger. Grandma took in laundry to pay the bills. The townfolk essentially sent her dirty clothes because she was too proud to take charity. Lost two kids in the process - one to disease, one to WWII. One of my two dad's made it through college on the GI Bill and it was off to the races.
That's two generations removed. You can kind of see how the Throbber doesn't buy into the whole 'oppressed' bullshit. Make your own way in this country with the opportunities that abound here.
Yeah, you think that's tough? I hear the Obama girls had to cut their vacation short at 83 days and that they didn't even believe they could grow up to be a Supreme Court nominee until today. Check your fucking white privilege bigot.

So your grandfather had a ranch? You know where this is going don't you?
My grandparents bought a section of land in ND. They had no house initially. Basically a dugout in the side of a knoll. When I was a kid we stayed with then at the farmhouse they built. Stairs were nearly vertical. No running water. Means no indoor plumbing, outhouse was special in winter. Grams heated water on a wood cooking stove, we bathed in a metal tub. Good times.
They built a new house across the pasture land, indoor plumbing! Spent summers there as a kid. Had some great times on the farm, gramps was a no nonsense guy, made you work, it wasn't a playdate. I can't believe I survived it, today's kids would have curled up and cried. But their biggest failure was that they didn't head down to Alabama and fight against racism. So they were part of the problem and can not be forgiven. We still own the farmland. It's in oil play. Will finally payoff with zero labor. I salute my grandparents for their life of toil on the farm and I'm being GD serious. Good people. Norwegian Toff.
California Dreamin' in Portland. Might as well put your money in a pile and burn it and pat yourself on the back for curing the homeless problem. Portland is now toxic and still nothing is being done. Shootings continue at a growing rate along with homelessness and windows continue to get broken. Now its the shoplifting and restaurant thefts as the police aren't policing and the DA isn't prosecuting. Good times.
