So, they are growing a billion dollars of illegal weed in Southern Oregon, ostensibly for export to non-legal states. Doesn't seem to be any population heavy states near Oregon to export to. So, the more likely explanation is that Oregon and Cali have set legal weed prices and taxes so high that illegal marijuana is still massively profitable. Seems like an article about illegal weed might mention the legal price for weed in Oregon versus the price of illegal weed. Anyone in the know?
If I was still a youngster I'd still buy from the local dealer
Of course pot heads are not known for their attention span and hard work, but in Oregon you can legally grow 4 plants. Seems like a no brainer to grow a couple for fun and profit [sale would be illegal but keep it quiet. Not a lot of enforcement on pot sales in Portland].
Dominion Voting Systems has sued the Fox Corporation in a push for access to company Chairman Rupert Murdoch's documents to determine how much control he and his son, Fox Corp. Chief Executive officer Lachlan Murdoch, had over the coverage of the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election.
Dominion had already sued Fox News in March, but in its latest lawsuit, filed this week in Delaware state court, the company alleges the Fox Corporation did not search or produce the Murdochs' documents, Bloomberg reported.
This industry still commits lots of crime not counting all the crime surrounding the cash involved. Export of legally grown weed to prohibitive states is where the big money is.

Why not grow illegal weed in Idaho? Idaho and Wyoming are not exactly big population states. Now if you are talking Texas, then sure, but seems like a long way to go with an illegal crop when Mexico is next door or just grow it in Texas. Seems like most is going to Cali. Typical leftard government, limit legal production, tax the sh*t out of it and kill the golden goose.

Mexican weed is shit weed. Sells for far far less than quality shit. My biggest case was 6 tons of that crap. Hated weed cases with a passion. No enhancement for weight in Kali. 6 tons brought 9 month sentences and probably ended up with time served.
And Democrats wanted this pseudo-intellectual slug on the Supreme Court.
Garland is clearly a leftist, not shocking. What is surprising is how weak and simple minded he is. He's a fucking idiot in addition to being a political hack.
Love him or hate him, Cruz is a sharp and prepared guy. He can hold his own against most anyone and make many look a bit foolish, but that was a thrashing of epic proportions against an absolutely unworthy opponent. Thank real god Garland was not allowed on the Supreme Court.
I think Cruz started to distort things and try to get Garland to admit to something that wasn't in his memo. That being said, he did a great job exposing the lack of research and awareness of the AG

The taxes the leftists put on weed at the state level are oppressive. Then the local leftists pile on their municipal tax burden.
There's a lot of companies that run legal and illegal grows out of the same operation. The legal stuff goes out the front door, the illegal stuff goes out the backdoor and into the night - which in turn makes it hard for the legit companies to compete out in the legal market because they have to mark their legal shit up so much.
Plenty of blame for this including Trump and Congress. But, the benefits were administered by the state bureaucracies who largely are misfunctioning idiots.
California Fraudsters Get Rich Off Unemployment Benefits
BY TYLER DURDEN SATURDAY, NOV 13, 2021 - 05:35 PM By Adam Andrzejeswki, CEO of OpenTheBooks.com; first published at RealClearPolicy
California has shelled out at least $20 billion in fraudulent unemployment benefits since the beginning of the pandemic, 11 percent of all benefits paid in the Golden State.
That is more than the 2021 budgets of Delaware, Maine and Montana combined.
The $20 billion given to criminals who fraudulently collected benefits comes out of the more than $178 billion in unemployment benefits since the start of the pandemic, The Los Angeles Times reported.
State officials have blamed that on Congress’ quick expansion of unemployment benefits that allowed people to get weekly checks without safeguards to stop people who weren’t eligible.
California state officials approved at least $810 million in benefits in the names of people who were in prison, including dozens of infamous killers on death row, the LA Times reported, and even $21,000 in benefits were sent to an address in Roseville under the name and Social Security number of U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.).
Gov. Gavin Newsom’s administration said — finally — the fraud pipeline in California has been closed as the state has implemented new identity verification software that, along with other preventative measures, stopped an estimated $120 billion in fraud attempts.
With $20 billion gone to fraud, it’s about time California officials take some action and slow the flow of taxpayer money going to criminals.
The California response was to freeze payments to legitimate unemployed
Governments love to collect all kinds of data but very little is set to cross-reference for fraud. They are supposed to know who is in jail and who is paying into the state unemployment funds but when it comes to sending out welfare payments, then just trust the filers.
Your government at work. So, if I built a new deck without a permit and the county finds out then I'm in deep sh*t. But if I want to build a homeless camp that blocks access to the city flood pumps, that's just no big problem, until it is.
'Nightmare situation': Fairview Lake floods after homeless camps block pump access Fairview city officials say pump crews have faced gunfire from campers while trying to reach the pump house near Fairview Lake. The city of Portland owns the land.
FAIRVIEW, Oregon — The carpet in the basement of Geoff Brown's Fairview home is ripped up. The furniture is gone. By Friday night, the four inches of water he woke up to that morning were down to a centimeter. His patience for the circumstances that got him there were completely gone.
“We’re trying to wrap our arms around the whole scenario,” said Brown.
Fairview Lake is part of the headwaters for the Columbia River slough that feed into Multnomah County's Drainage District. It’s a system that even on very rainy days should have prevented Fairview Lake from rising to flood levels.
“We have a massive, multi-million dollar pump to use on days like this,” said Brown. “Sadly, the Multnomah County Drainage District isn't able to get to the pump because of the homeless encampments.”
Fairview city officials tell KGW that MCDD crews have been trying to access the pump house near Marine Drive and Northeast Interlachen Lane to draw down the water in Fairview Lake, but for the past month, they've encountered hostility from the homeless camps surrounding and even blocking access to the pumps.
“The homeless encampments have created a nightmare for the MCDD crews,” said Randy Lauer, operations manager for city of Fairview Public Works.

The city of Portland owns the land on which the pump house is located. Brown said since last summer, he and other neighbors have been asking Portland city officials to clear camps in the area, to no avail. Then Friday afternoon, facing a flooding emergency, Multnomah County Sheriff's deputies escorted MCDD technicians to the pump house while tow trucks started removing abandoned cars and debris.
“As soon as they got down there with their trucks and equipment and servicemen to look at the pump, there were six gunshots coming from the homeless encampment that all of us heard,” said Brown.
Lauer said it was the second time gunshots were fired around pump technicians. KGW reached out to Portland city officials for a response to what's happening near the pump house, but the city did not immediately respond.
In the meantime, Brown continues to pump water from his basement, a “trickle down effect” to the homeless crisis he never expected.

Large majority of the homeless in Oregon are white. Just another example of systemic white institutionalized racism. If only we required a vaxx passport to be homeless problem would be solved.

While I’m sure somewhere in Europe there are homeless camps, I’ve never seen it. There’s the occasional heroin addict wandering around aimlessly or passed out. But nothing like any of the cities on the west coast.
The only squalor that approaches the absolute filth that I’ve personally witnessed is in Tiajuana and Guatemala. And in Guatemala it’s because the country is poor as fuck. The people take care of their “homes”.
I'm not talking just about the homeless problem, although the fact that we allow that problem to be as bad as it is, is another flashing neon sign of societal decline, I'm talking about spending millions on public works projects to deal with local flooding issues, only to then allow that equipment to made inaccessable and or inoperative by the homeless. State of California along with the Feds has spent millions to put in place electronic traffic management systems along the interstates. The homeless here are now in the process of destorying most this equipment because they break into the electric control boxes in order to steal electricity from them. Same goes for public elevators and escalators in the city. Only the problem there is the homeless shit and piss on them so much that they break down. Millions is repair costs only to have the fucking bums destroy them everytime.
