Wiped out terrorists who were threatening their country.
Short of killing or expelling the entire Palestinian population of Gaza, how would this even have worked? Hamas didn't even exist 40 years ago.
You wouldn't have to kill all of them. US didn't kill every Nazi. Hamas has been around for nearly 35 years. Before that you had the PLO.
It would help if the US and the Euros weren't giving them money and now the Cho Bai Den administration is prepared to give the Iranians billions of more dollars as sanctions are listed so the Iranians can funnel additional rockets to Hamas.

The Nazis didn't have state actors after the war heavily funding them in the way that belligerent Palestinian groups do and did. I'd also argue that anti-Zionism is far more prevalent among Palestinians than Nazism ever was in Germany. What was it, like 25% of the population that ever were real Nazis and the rest kinda just went along with it after the Nazis stole power. It's over 50% of Gaza who want to kill/expel all the Jews in Israel.
