That said, this idea of a country not being interested in protecting its national security combined with a ready and capable military as evidence of fascism is pure insanity to me.
Simply put, history shows countries that don’t put proper levels of investment in protecting itself tend to get run over by more powerful nations.
Obviously there’s a balance to strike and you can go too far on the national security and military side if things ... but the presence of realization that those things do matter isn’t what you claim them to be -
