    A classic case of the front office over-ruling the manager...when it ends, it is rarely pretty...even for future HOF'ers. Much like the M's with Griffey...He was done, and everyone but him knew it...the FO didn't want to piss off the fan$, and Wakamatsu did what he had to do to get him out of there...

    ...Not to mention the fact that by most estimations in the game, Albert is actually between 44-47 years old. Great player, but he shit all over the scout that drafted him in the 13th round, ignoring the fact that he slid that far because of age questions.

    At some point, even a great like Pujols has to be realistic. He’s had negative value since 2017. If he didn’t have the contract, he would have been gone years ago.

    At some point, even a great like Pujols has to be realistic. He’s had negative value since 2017. If he didn’t have the contract, he would have been gone years ago.

    So instead of fighting to stay good and finish the last two years of a contract that would pay you $48 million, you would walk away out of principle.
