He (used to be) right: the Chinese are tough to deal with. I've said it before: in business (i'm not castigating an entire people), there is a different set of baseline rules. It's a cultural difference. I often liken it back to the blank stares you'd get from Japanese when you'd bring up the Dolphin kill. They were like, "is there a problem here? we want tuna, and this is how you get it. why are you upset?"
Culture is a bitch. Business culture in China insofar as dealing with the other team is Lord of the Flies. No rules.
