The point was about former blue chip recruits exiting versus incoming. Polk doesn't count. I dont think Moore does either iirc. From the list TTJ was going off of, he had to be referring to Huard or Martin. Nobody else on that list is playing this year.

If Spiker and/or Osborne leave, then Tinae will play. He could easily be the 5th best WR midway through the season.

That's true. It may not matter if Spiker and Osborn leave or stay. Neither seems to be on a path to playing. It wouldn't be a surprise if another true freshman beat both out.
I still haven't fully figured out why the conventional wisdom has both Spiker and Osborne transferring. It would seem that both will be in the two deeps if Bynum, Rome, and McMillan are the starting 3 and backed up by Spiker, Osborne, and Polk. Taj Davis and Sawyer are lurking too though it's hard to imagine both beating out Spiker and Osborne for 2nd string.
Maybe I missed some scuttlebutt?
Conventional wisdom has Spiker and Osborne transferring because @jamesosborne1959 has been all over Dawgman saying that they are both going to transfer after spring ball. If I am remembering what he said correctly, Spiker to Boise and Osborne to SJSU.
Why would they wait until after spring ball to transfer? Why not transfer now to have more tim to earn a spot on the new team?
They probably also want to give it one last shot at a P5 program before heading to the WAC, Mountain West, etc.
I believe they will be the oldest WRs on the roster (along with Bynum) and there are 2 open starting spots. It's probably an uphill battle but Rome and McMillan didn't exactly set the world on fire last year.

Or O'Brien?
But otherwise me too.
This makes a good point about the portal really opening up at a helpful time during the coaching transition:

Just what I’m hearing, don’t twist
That said, if you transfer at that point you aren’t really setting yourself up for success at your new school
If I'm them, I go into it thinking I'm taking one last swing at the two deeps while getting a UW degree.
What's the story on Taj Davis by the way?

They will be failing upwards
