The fact that he called out his o-line is a bad sign. I'm guessing that Ciara is badly influencing him.
Why is it always the girlfriend/wife/mistress/call girl/phone sex operator/bottle server/stripper/escort/prostitute/Fleshight/inflatable doll that gets blamed in these situations?
So how does the dead cap hit thing work? I'm hearing that if they trade him they still have a "dead cap hit".
When a player isn't on the team but is still taking up cap space that's considered "dead cap".
Basically teams can prorate the cap hit from the signing bonus over the life of the contract (up to five years IIRC). So each year absorbs 20% of the bonus on the cap. But if a player is dealt before June 1 all of the remaining signing bonus that hasn't hit the cap hits that year. If the deal is after June 1 then 1/3 of it hits that year and 2/3 the next year.
Russ has $39 million of his signing bonus that hasn't hit the cap yet, so if he's dealt before June 1st the Hawk's would absorb that this season. If a deal were made after June 1 they would take a $13 million cap hit this year and $26 million next year.
And this is why he's not getting traded. Not this year at least.

This is the biggest issue with Russ. It’s always he doesn’t have weapons, he doesn’t like a line, he doesn’t have a good OC etc. He’s a good QB but he is not as elite as people make him out to be. He has elite stretches and he also has Trubisky-ish stretches. Someone posted a stat on Twitter the other day that around 25-30% of his career sacks have been self inflicted by the way he just starts to run backwards and constantly spin around. No O line is going to be able to stop good pass rushers when he is doing that.
I don’t think he is going anywhere but I also don’t think the Seahawks are going anywhere either with him at QB. He might win some divisional titles and a wild card playoff game here and there so if that is what people are fine with then great.

He is absolutely capable of winning a Super Bowl.
But during the 2020 season, the camera would zoom in to his face, and he had this subdued, glowering look in his eyes. That had never been there before. it seemed like his life had taken a shift in direction.

I would like to see a divisional round win first. A lot of QBs could win a super bowl with the defense and run game they had in 2013-14. Since those luxuries has left, he hasn't done shit.

It’s very troubling that Russ and Pete had a blow up after Buffalo and couldn’t get back on track. Russ moped the rest of the season.

Or Fire Pete
One of them has to go and coaches are easier to find than quarterbacks
Russ is angry damnit!!!
