I have friends in Arizona stocking up on .223 long rifle ammo. There seems to be some abundance there and since her kid was a Ranger who served in Afghanistan and is a registered Democrat he has access for us all.

Spoiler: he likes Trump.
A Ranger? Has that been vetted?
Ask @HHusky. Kid has PTSD bad though at age 27. I only go from personal experience, but Top Gun clearly knows better.
So according to the largest manufacturer the answer is NO. They are making more ammunition than ever but they explained that 8.5 million new gun owners popped up buying guns and ammo. It overwhelmed the system and everything sold out including reloading components. Now people horde anything they can get and buy it all if allowed to. They are running three shifts and pumping it out but it's just getting bought the minute it hits the shelf.

I actually don’t think this is an artificially created shortage. Demand wasn’t as high while Trump was in office because there wasn’t any concern about guns going away. Covid made everyone buy more guns, which sent demand soaring. Then add to that dems stealing the senate and whit house, and demand went fucking nuts. A lot of gun/ammo manufacturers have been trying to expand production capabilities, but that shit doesn’t happen overnight.

The commercial loading machines are custom built rigs with long lead times and are very expensive. Also everyone that supplies any item needed in the process also has to up production in order for it all to work.
A ton of Tugesque preppers bought up guns and ammo in March and April. It sells very quickly but COVID fucked up a lot of supply chains all over the world.
