Not worried about going underground. Worried about private conversations being made part of the oligarchs domain and then having that data sold to the new Chinese Overlords with subjective consequences for free thought and expression.

Also, minority dissent of political and government actions is a bedrock of liberty and the USA. If I want to say "Joe Biden is a cocksucking corrupt criminal and his policies suck" I should be able to say that without fear of retribution.
