Manchin says no on $2000 direct aid; joins GOP in vote. Possible party switch?
Really trying to figure why there can’t be a stand-alone bill but that simply doesn’t seem possible at this point.
Wonder if Manchin is going to pull a Jim Jeffords and switch parties. Could that be why the GOP seemed to intentionally lose the GA races to a 33 year-old do-nothing trust fund white kid and a racist and violent “Reverend?” That would be fitting for him to caucus with the GOP.

By the time they do anything anyone in trouble is fucked anyway
Postponing the rent is like getting a loan from a shark. Those past months will still be due
And he walked it back, he just wants something.
Frankly Congress could use a few more Joe Manchins.

You're also ironically touching on one of the reasons we need more legislators like Manchin. Congress at its "best" operated as a series of compromises and plurality-building, often through concessions to specific states that each Congressman traded on. That kind of regionalized process resulted in a legislative branch that actually legislated.
Contrast that with legislating done based on national party and ideology as the motivating factor, and the resulting mess it's given us.
