1-10

How fucking pathetic is it that in the current era of college football we? can't manage 36 points when it's needed. A good program can't rely on great Defense to win every game. Sometimes you have to score some fucking points.

Our defense invites the other team to grind out a ton of clock with short completions and runs of 3-7 yards. Clocks always running. And yes our offense usually just sucks.YellowSnow said:Is our? record going back to 2014 in games where the defense gives up between 30 and 35 points. The only W was the 2017 Utah game (33-30) which Wittingham gifted us.

I can't fault our defensive strategy that much over the past 8 years. It keeps us in almost any game. But fuck, if you can get 30 on UW you're all but assured victory. This is so fucked up.AtomicDawg said:

Giving up 24 to Stanford in the 1st half ain't the end of the world if you could go into half time only down 7 pts give or take. -
There is the problem though. If you score 3 tds ina half vs uw you basically had the ball the whole half. The clock never stops.YellowSnow said:

It’s frustrating because we make adjustments but only after a team proves they will take the 5 yards a play. Two weeks in a row that has happened. Would like to see a little more specific game planning. Based on the opponent. They get paid enough to figure it out. It’s like we only game plan in the second half. -
Yeah, so much of our calculus is dependent on other offenses shooting themselves in the foot. There's mountains of evidence that Shaw never takes the bait.AtomicDawg said:

The strategy is fine. Just would like to see our safeties a little more aggressive. Rapp was consistently around the box. Don’t know if he was free lancing or that was by design.YellowSnow said:

Or if you are going to have guys play that deep, be more aggressive underneath. Regardless our run defense sucks so that is the real problem right now. I miss Greg Gaines. -

Defensive strategy is often sound, but we are welcoming close games by it too. The key to it is not allowing TD’s. You have to go hold them to 3 and college kickers often suck so misses happen.
Teams also go for it on 4th and less than 5 often inside the 40. You can’t let the opponent score 3 TD’s in a half. Gotta make some stops. -
The teams been horrible at scoring touchdowns since 2016. until we find the galaxy brain that can fix that most games are going to be sufferfests regardless of the defensive scheme
