Split Zone Duo podcast (Steven Godfrey, Richard Johnson, Alex Kirshner, one of the better CFB podcasts at the moment) talked about the UW-BYU thing a bit from a media perspective (around minute 37).
Mentioned how UW did a pretty good job setting the media narrative on this, not that they lied at all, but they got out in front of it in a smart way. Also talked about how BYU recently fired their SID, and that this happening on a Sunday may have made it harder for them to respond.
Also talked about how private UW was with the media under Pete, which in some ways was good, but hurt our exposure nationally. Said every national CFB writer wanted to do a UW story before the Peach Bowl, and we completely shut them out and gave them nothing. Initially Jimmy Lake expressed a desire to be more open with the media, and with the amount of NFL players and recent success, has the potential to really improve UW's brand nationally.
They talked about how a big part of Clemson's rise was opening the program up to the media, training coaches on how to build narratives, hiring smart SIDs and support staff that knew how to be a professional program. Now their brand is so strong Dabo can say whatever dumb shit he wants and it barely matters.
Anyways, having a national brand helps, the BYU thing was a promising sign UW may actually start to care about it.

I give it three weeks tops before everyone's back wearing all black and listening to The Cure and going full-goth edgelord again.
I took a timeout over that shit. Gone, just gone.
