Can you imagine putting the starters back in during a blowout and having someone like uh Molden get injured? Some pretty disappointing takes in the latter part of this thread.
I remember a game in the 1980s where Washington was beating Stanford 34-0 late in the fourth quarter. Stanford drove into UW territory, and James brought the starters back in to preserve the shutout. @RaceBannon might remember that one. I think it was 1985. Their QB was John Paye and he was pissed off at UW after the game.

Don James did it a few times. You don't give up four touchdowns to bottom feeders in a quarter. It's just not okay. You bring them back for a series

This is why Don James is unmatched and a top 5 CFB coach of all time. Urban Meyer and Saban do the same shit
Also, did we? confirm Jon Don has actually made it to campus? With the hat and balaclava, I’m still not 100% certain that it is him. Could be an impostor.

Surprised at the level of Doogness on here
I don’t retract my statement. Covid ball is gay as fuck. I’ll wait till 2021 for strong opinions.

Also, you now have greater risks of targeting ejections, which are stupid.
This I like. They all want to keep improving. And Asa was a leader all fall camp. Leading by example and helping the young guys continue to get better.

Maybe Otton should stay after with the WRs and show them how to catch the damn ball
A full quarter of play for 2nd and 3rd stringers is a great scenario. It’s a way for Arizona to pad stats, but UW’s depth is mainly young, and this is live fire exercise for them.
Much better to get them comfortable like this than some sort of injury replacement.
The Wildcats piled up 265 yards in the final period alone, mostly playing against a combination of second- and third-string defenders, and Gunnell tossed three touchdown passes in that time. It wasn’t pretty, but the Huskies had earned the right to let their backups make mistakes.
“When we have the opportunity to put in all of our backups on offense, defense and special teams and get those guys some great work, we will always do that,” Lake said. “And it’s going to pay dividends down the road. That game was over, 44-0 (actually 44-6), and it was awesome to get those young guys some valuable, valuable reps.”

I wish the scrubs didn’t suck though. Disappointing.

Usually this guy is relatively down on UW. But he’s right about these.

Poor guy, I almost feel bad for him.
Almost.
