Lump burns hotter. Also not as nice for starting and speeding. Not really ideal for smoking... says the guy using royal oak lump.
You need to nurse it a bit more but the flavor lump provides is worth the chore. Royal Oak is great but I’ve been using the Kroger simple truth lump the past year and it’s an amazing flavor. Think it’s mainly hickory coal.
I'm trying my hand at my first Beef Wellington tonight. I will eat it in honor of never having to watch Brandon Wellington play LB at UW anymore. Not sure if his career fell short because of Bobs shortcomings as a coach/mentor or if maybe he just wasn't that great a player but I'm very happy to be turning the page on last years LB play.

Yes, if you're going to run 12 hrs to smoke a brisket, Lump is not your best choice unless you want to fire up another chimney full mid cook. Cooking a steak, definitely lump. Preferably Lazzari Mequite.

Enhancing...I see a 2nd kettle in the reflection. Good man. I never clean mine so it looks like shit and there is no chance of reflection. Cooks better if you just let the thing get as nasty as possible.
