We held leverage over Tosh ... he could have sat on his ass for a year which would have hurt him a bit professionally by doing nothing. We made him "pay" a bit in lowering what his buyout was so that he could go get a job elsewhere. We minimized much of the impact that he would have had in the 2014 recruiting cycle. We saved some money in the process.
Kim said Husky fans better worship the ground Tosh walks on after we got a chance to see what he would do.
First, fuck Kim.
Second, Tosh did a great job and was worth every penny. The DL got noticeably better the last few games of the season. Guys like Qualls, Mathis and Farria (Tosh commits) are going to provide excellent depth behind Shelton & Kikaha. Under Petersen, I'm very excited about this DL next year. Its only weakness is it lacks DT depth.
Idk, I see Tosh as more than just Shaq Thompson. I see Tosh as the collapse of Cal.
Once he left, their recruiting class fell apart and Cal has been in a free fall since. Part of it was Tedford's inability to recruit/develop QBs but they've been 4-20 since Tosh left.
So $500k to see Cal's program crash and burn is money well spent.

It wasn't personal ... it was business.

That's the only thing I can ever imagine Tosh saying.
(I know a guy)
