I’m actually legitimately impressed at how little the Pac 12 cares about athletics expenses (except Utah, I guess)
To that end, I kind of think Scott sold himself a bit short - maybe he should have gone for 5 million? 10 million? Just award himself full ownership of Pac 12 media rights going forward? What would have been the threshold at which the chancellors finally pulled the plug on him?
I want to be angrier about this, but for my mental well being I can’t. If the member presidents/ADs don’t care, why should I? Larry Scott is a big part of the reason why Cohen had to go hat in hand to the alumni with that “All In” champaign. She should be calling for that fucker’s head. Only thing that makes *any* sense to me is they all love the fact Scott takes the heat off of them.
That being said, I am looking forward to the next Podcast of Champions to hear them discuss it. Hopefully they can get Canzano on as a guest.
“We all know Champagne Larry likes to roll large”. 😅
A bigger issue here is how in the hell is he earning a bonus for a conference that is falling drastically behind its peers in a short amount of time. Isn’t a bonus typically for outstanding work or achieving above avg results?
I'm not mad at the dude. He is using the freedom given to him to make these decisions by the universities and their leadership. The brain trusts at the universities are the ones who could have taken care of the Larry problem years ago. They don't care, and they're the ones who should be fired.

Very true. At this point it’s entertaining to see how much he can get away with.
Academia may not be run like a business and maybe it shouldn't be other than trying to keep the lights on and spend the endowment responsibly
Media is a business that is vital to the athletic business that colleges embrace. If you want to fund all sports you need football and football needs revenue and lots of it. The Pac 12 is a business.
Larry would have been fired after the expansion fiasco if anyone cared. They only care now because the cash cow is on the sidelines and the "business" is now going under.
