This jostled a memory. The first time I went to Quebec was in May 1994. I was hanging out with my buddy's girlfriend, Marie-Claude. She was showing me around Quebec City. In her Franglais, she was bursting with pride as she spoke about Celine Dion. But I had never heard of her. Marie-Claude almost had a stroke right in front of me.
Later I was talking with my buddy, and he shook his head and said, "before she had dental work we called her Canine Dion." -
