I remember hearing the remake of Red Dawn was originally planned to have Chicoms replace the Soviets. Hollywood’s Chicom masters disapproved and instead we had North Koreans invading America and a very shitty movie as a result.

They shot the whole movie before deciding this and had to CGI the whole thing in post production
The city of Spokane, Washington is awakened by a North Korean paratrooper invasion. Marine Corps veteran Jed Eckert and his civilian brother, Matt, escape with a group of friends to an isolated cabin in the woods, where they witness the execution of their father at the hands of the ruthless Captain Cho. The brothers unite with their friends to form a guerrilla resistance group--the Wolverines--to drive the invaders from their home. Written by Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
From a military perspective, North Korea does have a decent ability to conduct limited airborne ops into South Korea. What they lack is the capability to conduct an airborne invasion of the US. Fuck, China lacks that ability as well but it’s at least slightly more plausible.
I didn't realize it was so blatant. In the original it was the Cubans on the ground with Soviet support. This was NK but no China support. That's pretty bad though
