Even here in Portland they were making a huge deal about the stressed out Orca population in Puget Sound and the need to restrict fishing on the salmon population to save the whales. Not once did I hear about the thousands of seals eating salmon as a problem. Here in West Linn they have a pile of seal lions pooling in the Willamette River below Willamette Falls. Just tear the sh*t out of the salmon.
The extra 2000 endangered fish dangling from tribal gillnets and selling for $12 per mushy pound in Cascade Locks will be rewarding to us all.
Honestly I just don't care. Shoot em. Quit pretending it's to protect the fish though. The trbes, white commercials, and lower river sporties just want more fish counted at Bonneville so they can disguise their fishery impact an extra few days.
I am surprised and somewhat pleased they're allowing some stellars to be whacked. Their impact per animal is way higher and they take a lot of spawner sturgeon too.
