None of Sweden’s near neighbors—Norway, Finland and Denmark—are seeing spikes either. All three locked down and avoided the huge losses of life Sweden suffered.

It's almost like you can't read or something. And the source is Newsweek. Not exactly Red State or OAN.

It's one data point out of many, but it's a useful comp. Nothing can ever be held constant, but these four countries are at least homogenous enough between each other to attempt to draw some conclusions. Sweden had 10-20x the deaths, but frankly the raw numbers seem to be a hell of a trade off for not shutting down your country. How these numbers would scale up to a country like the US, where there are a lot more variables at play, is the million dollar question.
Sweden has a population of around 10mil and a death total of 5739. The US is 328mil. if you take Swedens deaths and multiply by 32.8 you get a total of 188K deaths. Even with New York and New Jerseys incompetence (48K combined deaths) the US sits at 154K deaths. Extrapolating Swedens total cases would give us 26mil people infected. If the US doesn't shut down but puts a governor on the disease other countries would have followed suit and the world economy would be in a much better place today than it is. Swedens economy has still shrunk because Europeans are too afraid to visit and everyone is not buying those cool, hand made Swedish leather shoes because they have no income. If not for being an election year I feel the US plan would have been more homogenous. Keep the economy open, keep the children in some form of in person school, protect the elderly and wash your hands instead of Mask up!, Stay Home, Stay Safe and Alone Together. @GreenRiverGatorz you are correct, the variables are far too many to take into account. This is grocery math. Don't twist.
We talk about this shit over and over. Winter 2021 will be interesting. If Sweden stays in decline and other countries flare up then Sweden won’t seem so stupid. This seems to be the conscious or subconscious playbook until a monumental therapeutic or vaccine shows up.

The state of New York has a population 19.5 million and 32,362 chicom crud deaths. So, twice the population and almost 6 times the death total and it looks like Sweden has herd immunity. But leftards hate the Swedes for staying open and love Cuomo because of his brilliant handling of the chicom pandemic.

Sweden is nowhere close to herd immunity.
You gotta read up on them t-cells son!
Did you know eugenics was contemporaneously considered science too?
