According to the article, Trump doesn’t deny firing him, he just says he wasn’t involved in the department.

I would argue that firing him suggests he was involved in the department. Wasn’t Berman investigating a number of Trump allies, further suggesting Trump would want to involve himself in the dismissal via Barr?
