The problem is that kids need love from day one. If not, the breakage is generally permanent. A few hours of pre-school at age 3 isn't going to fix a kid with a single parent who is neglectful. When we have leftards claiming that teaching your children numbers, the alphabet and how to read is white privilege and that speaking proper English and doing your homework is acting white - tough to fix.

It was deliberately broken by Far Left and mostly White Liberals who saw too many whites and Asians outpacing their black, Hispanic and N.A. kids in the classrooms. The folks who run the system mostly have XYZ "Studies" Degrees from online schools we've never heard of and have no problem-solving competence whatsoever. So instead of improving and expanding the offerings to reach more kids, they instead chose to destroy the system because that's all vandals and incompetents know how to do. I guarantee Seattle Public Schools will try to re-institute mandatory desegregation busing to "re-integrate" the schools within the next few years, even though the public universally hates it and the African American population in Seattle continues to decline relative to other groups. Seattle was heading in the right direction, increasing enrollment and greater offerings of AP classes at each of it's High Schools, focusing on improving neighborhood schools instead of further watering them down. Ironically, many of those improvements happened under a Black Superintendent. But it was short-lived, once that SI moved on and the Liberal Weenies took over and targeted any class or program that had too many whites in it.
