my take is that Sark is probably way overpaying as usual for his staff so I'm sure Tui got a great offer from USC. Second, Coach P probably gave him a mediocre offer and I agree with it because he should have zero of the previous staff working for him. Last thing he needs is some punk who doesn't like discipline to start a locker room division just because he's pissed.
Tui choosing Sark over Petersen seems like career suicide.
just me, tho.
Two thoughts here. One, if reports of CP's offer are correct, staying at UW would have required Marques to accept a demotion. Two, assistant coaches have extremely short shelf lives, and Marques is upwardly mobile. By the time Sark is forced out at Troy, Marques will probably already be a OC somewhere. Maybe even a HC.
Best of luck to Tui. But now he can go and fuck right off. Did anyone here really think he had the chops to be a great coach? (I had a nostalgia boner for him I'll admit). Let's get the best coaching staff we can. The best coaches we have had did not play here and on that respect Tui is just some dude part of a pretty shitty staff on a middling team.
Not saying that there's any guarantee that he'll be a good coach, but I did notice that we played so-so on offense, gave up a lot of yards on defense ... yet we converted our opportunities into TDs and held BYU to FGs and turned the kicking game into a massive advantage for us (I'll take a Patron shot to the memory of Johnny Nansen's fucktarded Special Teams) ... kind of like how we've won games in the past when we've been good. Have to give Tui at least some credit for that.
If it is true that coach Pete offered Tui a TE job, then coach Pete must have felt he would have been a good coach for that role at the UW... and Sark got him instead. No other way to spin this really.
If taking Tui means we have only three coaches for the D, I would vote for a fourth D coach. At the moment, our DC appears also to be our DL coach. We need one more coach on D.
Kim's latest "What I'm Hearing" was that Tui was going to USC as the QB Coach. This cued many "What is Petersen thinking?" and "So far I don't like this guy's decisions" posts. Of course Kim was wrong the whole time, as usual but it did stir the anti-Petersen, Pro-Sark pot a little. Mission Accomplished.
Going for it twice in the first quarter was stupid. I say always play to go up by two scores or three scores before going for it in those situations.
Well it's great that you say it but statistical facts say he was correct to go for it. Those two calls were the most impressive thing he did. Would have been easy to take the old school coward coach approach and kick a fg but he made the right call.
Not to mention that one of the positives of going for it early in the game was that you keep the kids attention and foster the #weallwegot #weallweneed line of thinking.

Agreed, but the toss out of the shotgun on 4th and 1 had me facepalming

Agree, the decision to go for it was good, the play call was turrible.
Softy said on the post game show that a member of Tui's family told him CP had offered the te position. Softy subsequently mentioned that Tui was going to chose between UW te and USC qb.
Does anyone know if CP actually did offer the te coach position, or if that was just made up?
I preferred to take the points because I thought it was going to be a close low scoring game. But the stats do say you should almost always go for it and Teq's point is insightful.
