This doesn't end well for Minneapolis.
Seattle's City Council is just as left. I'm sure they will vote on this as well.
Effects if Seattle does this:
- Housing prices plummet.
- Amazon and other tech moves out.
- Homeless take over completely
Perhaps this would be perceived as a good result by the rats.

Yes they are. I live in the Bay Area. I have plenty of liberal friends down here. Hell you wouldn't have very many friends if you didn't have liberal friends down here. Public employee unions are a cancer on the taxpayers. A fucking cancer. Underperformers are protected and allowed to perpetuate inefficiencies in the government. Virtually impossible to fire a union employee in a government job.

I agree but it also goes both ways. I was a public employee and then a union for 12 years. I got outstanding reviews every year...but there is absolutely no merit increase or bonus attached as opposed to the private sector which is totally demoralizing. It was always “thanks....this review/meeting doesn’t mean anything but I appreciate the feedback.”PurpleThrobber said:

I'm not sure why "completely destroy this institution" became a solution to very real problems.
I can't speak to other urban police forces, but I don't know if anyone has ever seen the Seattle police respond in less than six hours to any kind of crime that didn't involve active violence. Stolen property is virtually never recovered. I'm sure defunding the SPD will do wonders to improving those outcomes. -
