good prosecutors can/will move mental mountains to build cases they want to prosecute
My brother is fresh out of law school and in a public defenders office. He explained to me yesterday where a prosecutor trying to protect a cop might go after a Murder 1 (premeditated) charge that he knows he wont get, instead of a lesser Manslaughter that he knows he would get in a heart beat.
That quote from the Prosecutor leads me to believe he is in the business of protecting police and not metting actual justice.
You think the riots are bad now, wait for that cop to be acquitted of M1.
Sounds like your brother doesn’t like money.
His wife is a 6-figure earner. Cuck-level: Confirmed.

In that case, Dazzler, Dazzler and Go Fuck Yourself have a new prospect to join the firm.

looks like the charges are 3rd degree and manslaughter
Is that going to be enough?
I was wondering that too - I guess we'll see how the public responds. From what I read, the first charge is up to 25 years, second charge is up to 10 years. I don't know all of the rules regarding the sentences running concurrently/consecutively, etc.
Holy fuck. This is getting so weird. No way they didn't know each other. They worked the same night. Chauvin outside in the cruiser, Floyd inside. Boss says Chauvin used to go in to help deal with issues as needed. No fucking way these two didn't know each other.

It's a choice between mollifying the public vs convicting the accused. Police training recommended the knee in the back, giving the cop the defense he was only following procedure.
The extra tim on the back and neck was clearly excessive. Additionaly, Floyd, on tape, said he couldn't breath. The prosecution can argue the cop intended on killing Floyd but will have a difficult time convincing 12 jurors of the same. Considering this, a third degree murder charge is more appropriate.
When the protests die down, the prosecutor should, and probably will meet with Floyd's family and explain the risks. Wouldn't at all be surprised if the prosecution accepts a plea of manslaughter with both sides agreeing on a recommendation of the max end of the sentencing range.

Good planning on his part.
