Hi everyone!
This is a serious post, so I’d appreciate serious answers only.
Recently, my brother had to move home because he lost his job due to the coronavirus. My parents got him an apartment that he was supposed to quarantine in for two weeks (which he didn’t do, I saw one of his friends at the grocery store that told me he is not social distancing AT ALL). After those two weeks were up, he decided he was going to travel across several state lines with a group of friends to travel to another friends birthday party. He just came back, and my parents are not making him quarantine again.
What’s even more frustrating and dumbfounding is the fact that my mother is a nurse that works with very ill children. Not only that, but she and my father are elderly and my mother has many underlying conditions that make her very high risk if she were to catch the coronavirus. I tried asking her when he left if they would make him quarantine again and my mom just screamed at me and never answered the question, so I knew she wasn’t going to make him. She also was convinced that if she got the coronavirus it would be from me, and said she’d be “extremely pissed” if so. I gave up a job that wasn’t taking social distancing seriously, told me they could fire me once the pandemic was over (AFTER I was hired) and was not offering any extra pay. So obviously, the job wasn’t worth my families lives, so unfortunately I had to quit (which I was upset about having to do). Now my mother loves to imply that I’m a selfish freeloader because I applied for unemployment since I lost my previous job (not the one I quit).
I’m genuinely afraid for the health of my entire family, especially because of my elderly parents risk factors, but I also just do not want to have myself or my other family members get the coronavirus. I know my brother, and he will continue to violate our governors orders. I don’t even feel safe from the coronavirus in my own home now. Said brother doesn’t even wash his hands. That said, what should I do? I don’t have anywhere near enough money to move out since I lost my job and still haven’t received unemployment, despite the fact I applied 8 weeks ago. I’m at my wits end. What do I do?!
