There is a financial component to this. Most of the people in nursing homes are paying for the home with Medicare. Medicare pays a fraction of what hospitals are able to bill private insurers. They are being put back into the nursing homes because of the cost. If they had private insurance that could be billed full freight they wouldn't be transferred out of the hospitals.

I was thinking they transfered them to free up hospital beds from the massive, crushing number of hospitalizations for the China virus.
