If you are over the age of 7, how does a Christmas Story make you laugh? Maybe a small chuckle once or twice if you haven't seen it for a few years. What parts do you guys think are so funny? The Asians singing is the funniest part. When Ralphie says fuck? When he gets his mouth washed out with soap? When his brother acts like a pig at the dinner table? When the kid gets his tongue stuck to the pole? When Ralphie shoots his eye out?
I imagine it's the same age group that finds the Three Stooges funny.
You just ended the thread. Now, we just have to wait for someone to mention Monty Python and The Holy Grail as the funniest movie of all time and we will know exactly what we are dealing with here.

I just like the plot and the character development. And the way they used foreshadowing.
But seriously. Home Alone is stupid because of the sappy ending and feel good bullshit, and I have no idea why you mentioned non-holiday movies in this thread.
The moral of the story is.... If you hate Raphie and his bb gun, you hate America. And you are a commie.
Dude the first viewing of Home Alone was the absolute tits. They over sequeled it which has cost it some luster, but that movie was hifuckinglarious in theaters.
Not sure about the goat, but Wedding Crashers was pretty funny. I'd take Old School, Anchorman and especially Borat over it, from that 2003-2007 era, though. I'm probably forgetting something else too.
Old School and Borat are great. Borat for the first time was incredible. The first half of Wedding Crashers is the goat when it comes to comedy, and has held up very well over time. Anchorman is an entertaining movie, but Step Brothers is way funnier. More belly laughs in Step Brothers for sure. Take a few bong rips, a joint, a knife hit, or however else you prefer smoking some weed and watch that one again.
I liked Step Brothers the first time I saw it, but after the third time I though it was just kind of okay.
Anchorman is pure comic genius. Most quotable movie of all time with the possible exception of Dumb and Dumber.
At least we agree on Old School and Borat. If we're talking pure belly laughs, I'm not sure anything will ever top Borat. I was in serious pain the first time I saw that.

FWIW, I never *got* the 3 Stooges thing (Iggy > Larry, Curly and Mo), but I did enjoy A Christmas Story. Then again, I've only seen it like twice.
I am 25 and find Christmas Story funny, I watched it growing up so it might be a nostalgia thing. Most of the new age comedies suck ass, luckily this thread has named a few of the pretty good or great ones that have come out. Is Christmas Story not funny because it is relatively clean? The dad in that movie is fucking hilarious.
This is the End is one of the funniest films I've ever seen.
Way better than Step Brothers.
Home Alone was funny until I was 10.
Christmas Story is average.
My 2C.
This is the End was really fucking funny the first time I saw it. It wasn't that great the second time though. The Michael Cera parts are right up there for some of the hardest I have laughed in my life. To me, the key to a great comedy is how it holds up over time. Home Alone isn't that funny, I just enjoy it and will stop and watch it for a few minutes if I see it on. A Christmas Story gets passed right over. If we are going for nostalgia, Home Alone easily beats A Christmas Story in my mind.
Can we get back to racially-charged arguments? That's what this thread was created for.
I'm sorry I jacked your thread. I will take another look at the rules so I don't have my posting privileges revoked for a day or two.
The Asians singing is funny, but I'm not one bit surprised people would think it was racist. Who gives a shit though. Funny is funny, and those type of people who are offended by shit like this suck.
Anchorman is for PMSNBC fans, (which there aren't too many of).
Some writer should make you a character in a comedy movie. You are straight out of a cartoon for a right wing conservative, bible thumping nut job. You couldn't fit the stereotype any better.

Like this guy, only with more Steven Colbert in him.

Borat is definitely the best comedy from that time period

The Big Lebowski is the comedy GOAT
The first time I ever got drunk was playing a drinking game watching that. Drink for every fuck. I blacked out pretty quickly. Vaguely remember throwing up in someone's front yard. So I'm not going to hate on it but Wedding Crashers has a better rewatch ability to it for me.

Yeah Borat was awesome. I watched it back in my late twenties when it came out, and somehow I've matured a little since then, so when I watched it again about five years later, it wasn't as funny. It still blows away movies like Wedding Crashers (Vince Vaughn is okay, but is overrated...that Wilson brother sucks).
Darkhorse movie from that mid 2000s era that's surprisingly funny if you like degenerate stoner comedy: Grandma's Boy

Of course, I was eight at the time. But still.

His list of comedies is pretty good. Step Brothers although kind of a stupid movie still is funny well after 23 times.
I think Old School is as good as it gets though.
Big Lewbowski never gets old either.
