The radical left ruined it for all of the moderate democrats. They are just as wacko as the far right. Most democrats dont think like the far left. It would be great if we could start a third party for the middle. I think moderate Republicans and the moderate Democrats are in agreement about a lot of positions.
If you did a blind taste test Pepsi beats coke and Trump is the mainstream candidate
If he actually did and said what he really that thought I would maybe agree. But, he has become to busy pandering to the far right idiots for me to buy that. And I understand why, it's the problem with politics now. Moderates cant get elected.

I'm not sure that many think Trump doesn't do what he says. The far right are also known as Never Trumpers.
Is he keeping the GOP base to get re elected? Yes
Do you have a problem with lower taxes, economic opportunity and the crushing of the oppressive PC culture? Because he has kept those promises
I get it that 40% hate his guts and he could cure cancer and they would be in favor of cancer. Not my intent anymore to change minds. But there have been blind tests where his policies are popular.
If we ever did get the perfect President we'd probably make him or her an emperor anyway. Its good to point out the feet of clay
You may or may not be surprised that some of the language conveniently inserted into the $2.2 trillion-dollar Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES) skews heavily in favor of the wealthy.
That's the act that Pelosi held hostage until the Democrats got what they wanted, right?
I notice that GDS conveniently skipped over your question

I’ll say, it’s fucking depressing being young and watching both parties get pushed further and further from the center
You know kids, neither party really wants you to vote or think you can make change happen. Old people vote so they can keep the Ponzi scheme of SS going. Thank you for pitching in. I can tell you that when I was your age we didn't think SS would be there for us either. Its one of those fear things that has been around for decades
At any rate the two party establishment didn't want our opinion anyway. The presidential election is our bread and circus
Depends on where you're located. Predict massive exodus out of Cali and Seattle - it was already occurring prior to COVID. In inland areas, supply is way behind demand. Benito Inslee deemed lawyers essential but not homebuilders which is putting more strain on supply.
The Throbber thinks there's about an 18 month window and then the Fed won't be able to stay ahead of inflation. Haven't heard anything like 1970's inflation but it isn't too hard to conceive increases.
Yup. I’m out of here in July/August. I’ll miss the summers but I won’t mis the traffic, 8 months of rain, and the fucking taxes.
The problem with the term “far right” is that what was considered “moderate” positions in 1984 are now deemed far right. Saying Make America Great Again and America First aren’t radical concepts. Neither is control of our border or requiring able bodied Americans to work. By in large, the NeverTrumpers so-called conservatives are defenders of the deep state and that we should be governed by credentialed elites. They also support an interventionist foreign policy to save the world. Think John McCain and Lindsey Graham. Both supported getting us deeply involved in Syria, completely ignoring the disaster of Afghanistan and Iraq.
The NeverTrumpers hate Trump because they think that being a serious Republican means taking it up the butt from the left and that doing so is just good manners and taking the high road. McCain treated barry better than he did Palin. The left hates Trump because of his moderate positions and the fact that he calls a spade a spade. Fake News resonates with a moderate who wants real news not Russia, Russia, Russia and impeachment.
Supporting the American oil and gas industry, free speech and the second Amendment seems pretty moderate to me. These positions were all held by most mainstream dems once upon a time.
That leaves the most important issue facing the country – unlimited abortion. The moderate position supported by most Americans is to have legal and limited abortion – like the Texas position. Trump appears to support making all abortion illegal. If so, that is a far right position.

Give us some examples of Trump pandering to the far right.
@GrundleStiltzkin was right. Trump is a 90's Dem. By and large he borrows from both center-left and center-right policies. If the Left wasn't so hung up on the cult of personality and PC identity politics they'd probably be getting a historic amount of bipartisan shit they want anyways. Union worker protections, Environmental protections for trade policies, tons of government investment in infrastructure and Moon-landing type of government projects, pull back from interventionism and nation-building, etc.

Fuck, let's keep it going, addressing systemic inner city poverty and crime, addressing the opioid crisis and the related homeless crisis, job training and reinvigorating the rust belt/ American manufacturing...
There's at least 20 policy areas that Trump is capable of reaching a medicare part D compromise but that doesn't fit with the Orange Man Bad narrative and the far left is ideologically incapable of compromise so there you have it.
How the fuck do you think Trump stole the white working class vote from the Dems? Oh right, it must just be that the US is super ultra racist it doesn't have anything to do with his cross-partisan appeal.

Abortion. It is the far right issue. Pandering was probably the wrong word. My point is Trumps business and economical practices are positions that moderate democrats can be on board with. He seems to have catered his rhetoric to the Evangelical churches. And that is where he loses me. The same way the far left loses me when they take their radical stances. Hence, people that are fiscally conservative and pro-choice are kind of the odd man out. It's why I dont really pay attention to politics anymore. I dont seem to belong to anyone.

Unfortunately Fiscal conservativism died with Carter. The Tea Party made a half hearted run to bring it back and did some damage in the ‘10 mid terms. But ultimately their other views weren’t palatable to the masses and it died forever.
