Weighing in here. The virus is a bad virus. Certainly not the flu. Tends to kill old fucks like Race.

That said, social distancing seemed like a reasonable and effective measure. 6', wash your hands, etc. I could even get on board with closing schools for a while.

Crashing the entire economy and shuttering virtually all businesses probably, in my opinion, was not needed. That's where the went too far. When the bodies don't stack up like cordwood in countries who didn't go as far as we did, that will be an interesting data point.

For all you fuckers who say, no price is too high to pay to save a human life, go fuck yourselves. That's simply not true.

Could we make cars more safe? Sure...but they'd be too damn expensive. People die.
How about freeways? Sure could. Costs too much. People die.
Could we make the buildings in Seattle safer for the big one? Yep. Do we? Nope - there's a practical limit?
How about our water supply? Do people die from lead or get illnesses? Yep. Why, because it costs too much to fix it?
Are space heaters the safest way to heat your house? Nope. Do they cause fires and people die? Yup. Why? Because it's a cheap way to heat.

We make tradeoffs all the time.

I’ve seen you and Damone argue repeatedly that someone is saying no sacrifice is too great if it saves one life. Who the Hell is actually saying that?
    Biden said it.

    Hth.
    Cuomo too, yes?

Social distancing appears to be working in other countries. That provides hope for death reductions here if we stay the course.

    Sorry you were disappointed.

The original estimates were with social distancing dumbass.

It’s getting close for you to stop cheerleading death and admit I (and grundlestilzkin) were right.
And new data from countries practicing social distancing keeps coming in, dumbass.

Admit the whole thing was a joke, like you said? Is that why you seem so lighthearted and happy?
Sure - that's why they are dismantling the field hospital at Century Link. Purely social distancing. Riiiiight.

Bullshit. The whole construction was a farce in the first place and a publicity ploy to instill fear in people. Seattle hospitals were NEVER at capacity nor were there contingent overflow facilities at capacity nor was there medical personnel staff available to staff said hoax field hospital even if they were full.

    Sham.

So you think it's a joke?
It has been a tremendous waste of time and resources.

    Private and public.

    I showed you earlier today

Cuomo for one. Biden for another
    Send them an invite then.

They don’t really believe that, nor do they behave as if they really believe that. No one does.
Fuck off. When Trump said let's get back by Easter the Democrats freaked out

    But they didn't mean it

    For fucks sake
Well, to be even handed with the criticism, Trump walked that back today quite biggly. He said, and emphasized, many times, that Easter was "aspirational". Said he didn't mean Easter or bust. Just that it would be beautiful. And that he doesn't understand why anyone thought he meant "By Easter, we're back in bidness." He was unambiguous about that today.

I don't really have a team I'm rooting for here other than the vaccine team. But at this point blaming the Dems for this shit seems like an empty critique. Fine, they're dumbfucks. It's what they do. But, but, but ... they're not in charge.

Who's in charge now? This is all executive branch shit and it's all Trump's show. If he does well managing this, he gets to be the hero. But if he bungles, he gets the horns.

If the government is fucking us, then Trump is fucking us, because he's the government. I can't see the rationalization that this is all big brother shit at play and somehow the Tug's favorite President doesn't have to wear that tag. He does.

Would 2.2 million deaths and many times that more illnesses have been way better for the economy?
I know that 10 million unemployed and counting and the destruction of our economy has fucked 10s of millions of people

    That's a fact, slave trader

    You're still peddling bullshit.
Death is more permanent than unemployment in my experience. But you should make the argument that 2.2 million deaths and many times more illness would have been worth it because . . . [this is where you explain your reasoning]
Here’s my reasoning. If it was communicable as stated, and that figure hasn’t varied too much, and we hadn’t mitigated really at all for 3 months, 2.2 million dead doesn’t make sense.
It makes sense based on the assumed case mortality rates that have been tossed around.

Based on the 0.8 rate and the 24 day average from infection to resolution we essentially went from about 18,000 cases on Feb 26 to around 1.9 million on March 18th which is a pretty communicable virus. You need to believe the mortality rate is off and this thing is way more contagious then even the medical experts are advising to not get to 2 million deaths pretty fast.

If we can start cranking out reliable antibody tests soon we'll see if those numbers ring true...

What I’ve been saying for a month. This shit has been everywhere already. Some become sick, most don’t.

well we do have varying levels of government that can screw us in different ways. The state level has shutdown everything with local gov support. The feds are trying to make us all dependent on our? own $$$ for payments back to us and the debt.

I never thought Trump would fall for all the 'save the country' acts at a cost of $6T.

I be old, so I will go out in good shape and pissed. Sorry for my kids and other youngsters.

It's a trickle up money grab. Big Federal government that isn't cash to individuals or stimulus to business. BIG federal money available to the locals.

Oh, me too. I'm just talking domestic teams right now. My patience with China was wearing thin before, even for selfish reasons related to our business and our dealing with the numerous goons who had their hands in our pockets before we could get out goods to market. But in this kind of situation, where science and transparency mean so much, they fucked everyone ... again ... because it's what they do, apparently.
