He plays for FSP, for some reason, which is why we offered

Oh, because he's originally from Washington

I'm glad to see that under Jimmy we are still carrying on the tradition of recruiting black guys (I'm assuming) with super white first names

Valrico (Fla.) Bloomingdale cornerback Philip Riley named his top seven on Friday night.
Riley named a top seven of Minnesota, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Texas, Virginia Tech and Washington
Washington: "My hometown. What they're doing is amazing, and they're on a roll. The whole staff has been showing me love since day one so I'm always going to have love for them. Coach (Terrence) Brown, coach (Thomas) Ford, coach (Will) Harris, coach (Brian) Watkins, they have all been talking to me about how we could take it to the next level. It's a really special place, my home state, my home college and I appreciate how much love they put in."
Riley is originally from Washington, where he prepped at Lakewood (Wash.) Lakes and played his first two years before moving to Florida.
The move to Florida and his subsequent big junior season, has led to his recruitment exploding, with Riley closing in on 40 offers.
"It was a really good move and it was smooth and rewarding," said Riley. "I feel like I have grown as a person and a player since I moved here and Florida feels like home."
A three-star in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings, Riley ranks as the No. 26 cornerback nationally in the 2021 class. -
Kind of random we're competing with Pedo State, the Pirate, and Row the Boat for both this kid and Ortiz.
-
I want that kid just for his logo selection

First McCarron is going to Virginia, now Riley is going to VT.

Is it a good sign if he's tagging Huffman and not some east coast TBSer?Neighbor2972 said: -
No, 247 just assigns one person to 'cover' each recruit, Huffman was who broke down his top 7insinceredawg said:

I’m confused. How are we losing dudes, who seemed genuinely interested in the West Coast #DBU, to Minnesota and Virginia Tech? Anyone?

Jimmy doesn't row the boat with as much vim and vigor as Fleck. It's really a vim and vigor issue.Beno4Life said:I’m confused. How are we losing dudes, who seemed genuinely interested in the West Coast #DBU, to Minnesota and Virginia Tech? Anyone?

It should be pretty clear at this point that Ortiz did not have a commitable offer to UW, penn State, or Oregon. Riley going to VT is odd considering the offers he has.Beno4Life said:I’m confused. Gotta wonder if either of those kids will actually end up at those schools. I say at least one doesn’t,bananasnblondes said:

Latest article on Riley says he was about to commit (everyone assumed to Virginia Tech), but didnt pull the trigger and says he wants to slow things down and take his visits to UW, Oregon Notre Dame, and Va Tech.

For posterity, here is what he said in the interview he did with Lou two days ago:
Notre Dame: “Top-notch academics and football. I have a great relationship with coach Lea, the defensive coordinator, coach Mickens, the cornerbacks coach, and coach Kelly, the head coach. I actually got on the phone with all three this week, and with my parents. It's just a great relationship. Top-notch education. You can get top-notch education and great football as well."
Washington: "It's a great school for defensive backs. Coach Lake was the defensive coordinator and a DB himself, so having him as the head coach, it's a great fit for DBs. Coach Harris is a great coach and a great guy. I love getting on the phone with him. I also played 7-on-7 with FSP and that's like a pipeline to 'U-Dub.' Coach Ford's brother coaches at U-Dub and I have a great relationship with him. It's a great connection in general." -
