Sad that we have come to accept this as normal. And by 'this', I mean the assumption that the schools are the default feeder of our children. This transference of power to the state is like letting oneself get hooked on meff. Very, very habit forming.

And it's so bad now that it's assumed: "hey, if my kid's not in school, how da fuck he/she gonna eat?" The irony is lost on them.

Let me be clear about this, too: statists are to be found in large quantities across the political spectrum. It's just a matter of what particular bundle of things a given person is comfortable handing over to the state to manage for them.

I, myself, have my own bundle. But mine make sense.

Feeding my kids? No, not one of them.

The schools have slowly replaced parents in every aspect. Except discipline. School nor parents do that.

You’re right in that it’s normal and people ask who will feed the children without much thought or shame. Not just people who get the food, but everyone. I brought this up the other day. Just asked why are the schools responsible for feeding kids when school isn’t in session (or ever really). You’d of thought I drowned a puppy by simply bringing it up.

The one thing is know for a fact is the more schools provide, the more schools will provide. It just keeps going.
Doesn't look good for my marginal tax rate going forward.

Have you ever added up all the taxes you pay in one year? Not just to the IRS, but all of it?

I did a back of the napkin once, and it made me depressed.

I thought, "fuck, I should have just gone into something half-way fun for a living and said, 'fuck it.'"
you do realize who you responded to, right?

Maybe just needed to go into teaching. I looked up a couple here. With benefits they are pulling down $280k combined. Easy job. Secure. Time off. Etc.

Of course they will tell you they works 8000 hours and year, don't get paid for summers and after all, aren't our children worth it?

Fuck off. Most went into teaching because it was an easy degree and they get summers off. Go fuck yourself
I actually don't have much of a problem with that amount- but the way the pay system is set up with teachers is fucked. It has nothing to do with performance or competence. The name of the game is 'don't get fired until you have massive seniority and then rake the cash". All that does is keep the compliant, non-innovators employed because they don't rock the boat. They also don't do jack in educating the young 'uns.

One of the Throbber's offspring is going to be a teacher. I hope to fuck she marries rich because she's going to make jack shit for the first ten years including paying for a masters. And she is going to be an amazing teacher....if she doesn't get frustrated and leave education because she has incredible leadership skills and ability to get the best out of people.

You nailed it with the above - they go into education because its an easy degree and they get summers off. If we want USA! USA! USA! again we need to start treating education and educators like respected professionals again and hold them to high achievement standards. Used to be Teacher and Cop were THE most respected professions and you got your ass whipped if you mouthed off to either. Now its just the opposite and parents regularly badmouth teachers and cops.

We also need to incentivize the best and brightest to become educators. I don't have the answer on how to do that - but $$$ sure as hell talks. Set it up so kids can get their teaching certificate and put on a 2 or 3 year window to get their masters fully paid. If they don't cut it, GTFO. Next. Tie it all to test scores or graduation rate or whatever the fuck you want. There's any number of ways to track performance.

So, no, I've got no problem with a couple of teachers making a buck twenty five each....but they better be pumping out productive and educated members of society. There's no incentive or consequence associated with that now.

Every thing you said is true, but the teachers union prevents it all.
Both of the Throbbers two dads and biological mom were educators. They fucking hated the union by the time they died.

You want to see Mrs. Throbber v2.0 get worked up, mention unions. She'll lose it. Which is fine because then later the sex is pretty angry and at my advanced age, that helps with the process. All 42 seconds of it.

You’ve found that to be true too?

Don't even say the word "Wobbly". You just don't want to do that.
