First Coranovirus Death in WA State

You weren't talking about math. The math is that more people die from this when they contract it vs the flu. You were wrong about that and go on a rant about the definition of mortality rate. Fuck off, boomer.PurpleThrobber said:

I didn't write it. Go after the source author if it gets you that upset. You and several others here are still wrong about the flu being more "deadly," even if the odds of actually dying from either is low. It's intellectually lazy to sit back and say more people die from the flu because that number is apples and oranges.PurpleThrobber said:
So are you walking back that you were talking out of your ass on mortality rate of 2%?BleachedAnusDawg said:
If you get this virus you are much more likely to die from it than if you get the flu. It also has a much higher transmission rate than the flu.PurpleThrobber said:
People are confusing the case-fatality rate and the mortality rate, which are not the same thing.pawz said:

You should look at the global population and use the term 'Mortality Rate' properly.BleachedAnusDawg said:
You should look at overall statistics and not cherry pick data from the US where the virus is just starting to emerge.PurpleThrobber said:
No....it's not. The Mortality Rate is based on total population. There's been, what, one death in the US from coronavirus - the flu still has a way higher mortality rate.BleachedAnusDawg said:
Mortality rate of corona virus is actually much higher than the flu. Also no shot to prevent or mitigate its effects. If as many people get this virus in the US as they do the flu there will be many more deaths.MikeDamone said:

Mortality Rate = Total Deaths to Disease/Population
Case Fatality Rate = Total Deaths to Disease/Total Deaths.
You should probably go fuck yourself now. Unless you think 2.2% of the earth's population died in the last couple weeks.
Walk it back. -

Actually I’m not sorry. You can’t do math or read. Nothing I should be sorry about. -
Read the numbers on infections and deaths and see if you can add things up. Better yet, let me do it for you. Most generous numbers for the flu in the US has it killing about 1 in 150 in the US this season. 6 of 100 reported corona virus cases thus far have resulted in death. It would take another 800 reported cases without a death to fall to that rate for the flu.PurpleThrobber said:

Mortality rate from flu still higher in the US.
It's mathtastic.
-
Here: I help you with maff....use all your fingers and toes. Christ, I'll even use your own stats.
Base population of the US = approximately 325,000,000 people.
Mortality rate = Deaths from a particular disease divided by 325,000,000
2019-2020 Deaths from flu in US divided by 325,000,000
Mortality rate of flu = 12,000 / 325,000,000 = 0.0036923%
2019-2020 Deaths from coronavirus in US divided by 325,000,000
Mortality rate of coronavirus = 6 /325,000,000 = 0.0000018%
0.0036923% > 0.0000018%
Now go knock back a good dose of STFU.

Cool story, bro.PurpleThrobber said:Mortality rate from flu still higher in the US.

I'm not talking about mortality rate. My point the entire time has been that if you contract corona virus, as of now, the numbers say you're more likely to die from it than the flu. Please, keep ignoring the point and obsessing over mortality rate which was not what I intended to get at.PurpleThrobber said:Here: I help you with maff....use all your fingers and toes.

Mortality rate = Deaths from a particular disease divided by 325,000,000
2019-2020 Deaths from flu in US divided by 325,000,000
Mortality rate of flu = 10,000 / 325,000,000 = 0.0030769%
2019-2020 Deaths from coronavirus in US divided by 325,000,000
Mortality rate of coronavirus = 6 /325,000,000 = 0.0000018%
0.0030769% > 0.0000018%
Now go knock back a good dose of STFU.
You get mad way too easy. Sad way to go through life.
